DON FELIPE DE LA CORTE

Don Felipe de la Corte was the 35th Governor of the Mariana Islands and was one of the longest serving Governors [1855-1866]. He is also believed to be one of the most beneficial governors in respect to the long-term well-being of the people of the isalnds. De la Corte was from a noble Spanish family and was a well-educated  lawyer and engineer. He spoke Spanish, French and English and could translate from Latin.
